As the weeks and days are going by, we are getting closer and closer to the end of our time in Elementary. Recently we decided to take a few grade pictures as a big group. Here's some of the results.
On Thursday 22 May, the grade 5 students went to the Kori Nuclear Plant's Energy farm to learn how energy is created and used. There we found a wonderful interactive energy exhibition. We looked at models and presentations of energy creation and use through history and we made very good connections to what we've already learned in class. After the energy farm, we visited the water and trash recycling plant in Jangsan. There we witnessed first-hand how Haeundae's trash is turned into heat and steam energy. We also learned how they clean and filter our dirty household water, to send it fresh and clean back to the ocean. We ended off our trip by renewing our own energy with some Korean lunch on Seongjeong beach from a local restaurant. Then we played some volleyball and made some sand castles. It was an informative and fun day in the sun! A few weeks ago Bia and Zwa participated in a TEDx Youth event at our school. The videos of their speeches has just been uploaded on youtube. Please have a look at what they had to say. We are so proud of their courage, hard work and success!
This summer we are going to keep on reading, even though, it's vacation does not mean reading should stop. To help us keep motivated we've joined the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge! Every day the students log how many minutes they spent reading. We compete against other schools around the world!
This week we have been researching and learning about Nuclear Energy, where it comes from, the advantages and disadvantages of it etc. Below is a few videos about nuclear energy. |
